In 2012, the YOUTH TRANSITION NETWORK (YTN) is launching “Crossing Thin Ice,” a comprehensive campaign designed to help parents understand and retool to have genuine influence in the lives of their young people. This campaign incorporates a national statistical study, televised documentary, regional conferences and resources that will touch the lives of millions of parents helping them transition from raising a child to developing an adult that will thrive practically and spiritually on their own.
Alarming research reveals that 70% of Christian students exit the church either during their junior and senior year, or following graduation.
YTN’s campaign is based upon numerous focus groups with high school and college-age students examining the issues that impact youth today. Youth Transition Network discovered that most teens leave the church simply because they can no longer connect with their church-going parents or live up to the expectations they perceive. In response to our findings, we have created three different seminars and retreats designed to revive the culture of youth ministries and to help parents meet their kids’ desire to connect in a different way.
Today, YTN brings its large body of research to parents, pastors, youth leaders, and youth groups with events and speaking engagements designed to address these urgent issues that dampen our teens’ response to their parents and the true values we desperately need.
